William Preston" life-long interest in sumi-e has escalated into the consuming passion of his long career as a professional artist. He has drawn and painted since childhood and had a varied career as an artist in many cities throughout the United States. He mastered oil painting after moving to New Mexico in 1983 and has since exhibited widely regionally and nationally. As he says of the sumi-e process: " the appeal of painting direcly in ink and watercolor on rice paper is its immediacty, fluency and spontaneity."
