Cia Friedrich's artist statement: "Glass is a wonderfully malleable structure. The molecules that make up glass are as random when they are liquid as when they are solid, mentally interpreted as the feeling beneath the perception. There is an immediacy and awareness Cia uses to express her enhanced imagery. The power of molten glass takes up the focus on realism, creative play comes in by adding perception and awareness while developing these images in her art. With realism occupied by technical immediacy, a pre-planned drawing grows and changes into the unique expressions that seem to be coming out of the piece at hand. Beyond the conceptual realm lies a seemingly endless curiosity giving every piece a new and unique conclusion." Cia Friedrich has worked at the Tesuque Glass Works in Tesuque, New Mexico since 1992. Her works range from influences from the natural world such as sea shells, animals and skulls, to more abstract interpretations.
